Most tile collections offer a range of sizes and let the project sort them out. Mutina went the other way with Otto: one plank, 15 × 90 cm, chosen, in the maker’s words, to bring out the relationship between proportion, rhythm and continuity. The colour is meant to carry the room, and a single format repeated across the floor lets it do that without the distraction of mixed pieces.
The proportion suits Indian interiors that are long and bright. Laid straight, the 90 cm side draws the eye down a corridor; laid staggered, it breaks the length into a softer pattern. On that module Mutina set eight porcelain tiles colours, Latte and Perla at the pale end, Terra and Acqua at the deep one, all tuned to the Emilian countryside that Ghirri kept returning to with his camera.
The same plank goes on a lobby floor, a shower wall or a rooftop terrace, since it resists frost and thermal shock. In executive washrooms the same plank covers floor and walls in one tone. La Mercanti draws the plank direction on the plan for each room before the quantity is fixed.

Mutina declares water absorption of 0.07% and resistance to frost and thermal shock under ISO 10545. The glaze barely takes in water, which is what an exposed terrace needs; drainage and slope still depend on the project detail.
Mutina states that Otto contains no VOCs, and VOC emission data are available on request with the other product declarations. For a certified building the data sheet goes into the submittal.
With a detergent made for porcelain stoneware, diluted in water, as Mutina recommends. The glaze reaches stain class 5, so everyday spills do not soak in and there is no sealing to renew.
It was designed for that: Mutina describes the palette as an open system meant to work with the whole Mutina universe. The catalogue shows Acqua A4 alongside Mater Segno Bianco, for example on a wall above a floor.

The final clean of Otto depends on the grout: cement-based and epoxy need different products. Check what the tiler used before buying anything.
Wet the Otto floor, dilute a buffered acid cleaner 1:5 with water, pour it on, wait two to three minutes, scrub with a white pad and rinse well.
For epoxy, apply an alkaline cleaner undiluted on the Otto surface, leave it about thirty minutes, then work it with a green pad and rinse.
Silicone, paint and rust each need their own solvent or stain remover. Apply only on the mark, leave the time stated, and rinse the Otto plank.
La Mercanti leaves the facility team the Otto routine for daily cleaning: a porcelain detergent diluted in water, nothing acidic once the haze is gone.
