Delivery, warranty and cancellations

Almost everything we sell is produced after you order it, in the configuration you have chosen. That is what allows us to offer the full range of the brands we carry instead of a limited stock — and it is also why a few of the rules here differ from an ordinary online shop. All of them are set out below.

Delivery

Where we deliver. To the major Indian cities, and elsewhere in India on a dedicated quotation. Tell us about any access constraint before you order rather than when the vehicle is at the gate: service lift dimensions, permitted unloading hours, society approvals, narrow approaches.

How long it takes. The production time is stated on each product page — from ready to despatch to about eight weeks, depending on the manufacturer and the finish — and it is counted from the moment the order is complete: finish, fabric, dimensions and configuration confirmed, because only then can the factory begin.

Freight is added to production. Between sea and air the difference is an order of magnitude, so we do not publish a fixed number: we choose the mode with you, for the destination and the deadline, and state it on the quotation with its cost and its duration. The actual date is confirmed in writing once the manufacturer confirms the order. If anything slips we tell you at once, without waiting to be asked.

How we deliver. Standard delivery is to the entrance of the building, goods packaged, and it is included in the price. Carrying in, placement in the room, unpacking and installation are quoted project by project. We will tell you plainly where we have an installation team we trust and where we do not: we would rather say no than promise a service we cannot stand behind. Manufacturers' assembly drawings and our technical support come with every order, whoever carries out the work.

What is not included. Electrical connection, fixing to walls, civil work, and the removal or disposal of existing furniture.

If you are not ready to receive. We can hold the goods and plan phased deliveries around the site programme. The cost is agreed in advance.

Customs, duty and GST

Our prices do not include Indian GST or customs duty. Both arise on import and are payable by you as importer of record.

We state the estimate on every quotation, before you order, so the figure at clearance is never a surprise. The clearance itself is handled by the freight forwarder; you complete no paperwork. We supply the manufacturer's documentation required for the entry, and export packing to IPPC standard is included as a matter of course.

On arrival

Check the consignment before you sign. Count the packages against the delivery document and look at the condition of each: torn film, crushed corners, damp marks. If anything is visibly damaged, sign with a written reservation — a line on the document describing what you have seen is enough — and send us photographs within 7 days at info@lamercanti.com: the packaging, the damage and the carton label. From there we deal with the carrier and the manufacturer. You chase no one.

A clean signature on a damaged consignment makes the claim far harder for both of us. The reservation takes a minute at the gate and settles the matter.

Once unpacked, look at the piece itself. Variation in timber grain, leather, fabric, stone and marble is a property of the material and not a defect: on a natural surface it is the evidence that the material is real. If something is not right, write to us with photographs.

Warranty

Each piece carries its manufacturer's warranty, whose duration and terms are stated on the product page because they differ from brand to brand.

The practical part is ours: we raise the claim, deal with the manufacturer, arrange the part or the replacement and follow it to a conclusion. You deal with us, not with a factory in Italy.

Transit damage is separate and always at our cost, provided the consignment was signed with a reservation and photographs reached us within 7 days.

For business purchases the contractual periods are those of the governing law: defects are to be notified within 8 days of discovery, and claims lie within 12 months of delivery. Nothing on this page limits any right a consumer has under Indian law.

Cancelling an order

Because production starts for you, the position changes as the order moves. We keep it simple, and we tell you where your order stands before anything is withheld.

Within 5 days of confirmation the order can be cancelled at no cost, whatever its stage.

After that, and while the order has not yet been placed with the manufacturer, there is still nothing to pay. Once it has been placed, cancellation costs 30% of the order value. Once production has started, and once the goods have been despatched, the order can no longer be cancelled.

And the term binds us too. If we were to cancel a confirmed order for reasons of our own, you would receive a full refund of everything paid plus the same 30% consideration that we ask of you. It has not happened; a clause that binds one side only is not a fair clause, and we would rather write it than argue about it later.

Returns

Goods produced to order are not returnable for a change of mind: they are made in your configuration and cannot go back to a shelf. That is why the effort goes in before the order — samples, written confirmation of every dimension, and the five days to reconsider.

If we do agree a return in a particular case, the return freight is yours and we confirm the figure before you commit. As a guide: ₹50,000 for a chair or small item, ₹100,000 for a desk, pedestal or single piece of furniture, and from ₹120,000 for larger orders. Additional services already performed are not refunded.

Where something is wrong rather than simply unwanted — a fault, transit damage, a delivery that does not match the confirmation — this section does not apply. Write to us: that is ours to fix.
