Sedus markets se:flair as the chair that is cosy in the office and chic at home. The document that matters in a tender says something plainer. The GS certificate issued by TÜV Rheinland LGA Products, number S 60175815, describes the product as a conference swivel chair range, tested to DIN EN 16139 and DIN 4573 up to 130 kg of user weight on the polyamide and aluminium bases and 110 kg on the wooden frame, and valid until 12 May 2029. Beside it sits a second TÜV certificate for harmful substances, valid to June 2029, and a GREENGUARD certificate of its own.
What the certificate covers is a shell chair on a swivel: a plastic backrest frame upholstered in the armrest area and wrapped all round in knitted membrane, a padded seat in membrane or fabric, and the Kinetic-Swing mechanism on every variant. Among conference room chairs, this is the one a facilities team can file with its paperwork the day it arrives. In a boardroom the version on aluminium glides turns 360° without rolling, and the backrest reclines to 21° with a tension the Kinetic-Swing mechanism sets from whoever is sitting.
Three codes, three chairs. 2415 puts the shell on castors: the workstation, the home desk, a gas lift under the seat. 2214 puts it on glides: the boardroom, the visitor’s side of a manager’s desk. 2314 puts it on four wooden legs with the seat fixed at 440 mm: the lobby, the living room. Then the finish, black or clear white for the technical parts, five membrane shades, five bouclé shades, and a fabric or leather seat under a back that always stays membrane. For Indian corporate and institutional buyers La Mercanti copies the certificate line into the specification, number and date included.

With a slider under the seat. Take the load off the backrest and push the slider back: the backrest is locked in what Sedus calls the rigid posture. Push it forward and the backrest is free again, following the body with the Kinetic-Swing mechanism.
On two of the three. The five-star polyamide base and the four-star aluminium base have a gas spring, with 400-510 mm and 390-515 mm of travel. The four-legged wooden frame has a central seat spring and a fixed seat height of 440 mm: it cushions but does not rise or fall.
Black (code 103) and clear white (158). The model colour sets the plastic parts, the base, the castors, the gas spring and the aluminium knot of the wooden frame. The two controls, the height lever and the lock slider, are basalt grey on both.
Yes: Sedus lists a version to FFFSR for domestic use, possible in combination with the Fame cover fabric. It is separate from the fire-protection version 6044 on the European list.
A Samhongsa cartridge, type SHS SG, to EN 16955 class 4, named in the GS certificate for the polyamide and aluminium bases. Sedus asks that cleaning of the piston rod be done with a cloth and that any replacement be left to trained staff.
Put se:flair on glides and it turns to the screen without leaving the table. Five steps, from the Sedus drawing to the floor of an Indian office, to get the chairs where the meeting needs them.
Across the shell se:flair measures 700 mm. Mark that width per place on the table drawing, then add the swing of two neighbours turning to the screen at once; on a three-metre table that is four places a side, not five.
The aluminium four-star base, code 2214, swivels through 360° and lifts from 390 to 515 mm on a gas spring, but it stays where the table is. A chair on castors drifts back when a guest stands; this one is where the next guest expects it.
Indian boardrooms are mostly stone or wood, which calls for the felt glides, code 2801; carpet tiles take the plastic glides, code 2800. Sedus pairs each glide with a floor, and the swap is done by hand.
Sit on each chair, pull the lever, and stop at the same figure on all of them; note the figure for the facilities file. Visitors rarely hunt for a lever, so the height you set is the height the room keeps.
Five membrane shades and five bouclé shades are on offer; a boardroom is calmer with the same back on every chair and the same model colour on every base. Save the two-tone seat for the lounge outside the door.
