A floor in Pune or Hyderabad rarely holds one kind of back. It has the analyst who wants air behind the shoulders, the manager who wants a high back for a long call, and the person of 1.60 m who has never found a backrest that sits where the spine is. The se:kit answers all three from one list: six backrests. Mesh or full upholstery, each in a medium 63 cm version, a height-adjustable version that travels 70 mm between 59 and 66 cm, and a high 73 cm version that takes the neck support. The frame, mechanism and base underneath do not change, so one chair can carry all six down the same row.
Below the backrest, the ergonomic office chair is a modular kit signed by Sedus in-house designer Falk Blümler. Mechanism: Kinetic Swing with nothing to set, Similar reading the user's weight, or Similar with a dial. Seat: five zones, standard or comfort padding, fixed or sliding with auto return. Armrests: six designs or none. Base: polyamide or aluminium, five stars. Order the 73 cm back with the neck support, 90 mm of travel and 25° of tilt, and it becomes a high back office chair.
Meeting rooms take the conference version on a 4-star base with glides; lobbies take the four-leg visitor chair that stacks five high or the cantilever; reception counters take the footring version; control rooms take the se:kit 24. On a workstation floor in open plan the chairs look alike and fit different people. La Mercanti puts the backrest height, not just the model, on the order list.
Share the finishes you wish to evaluate
It depends on the mechanism. Sedus recommends the chair for users up to 150 kg with the Similar mechanisms, up to 130 kg with the Kinetic Swing, and up to 180 kg on the sn-101 and sn-121 medium-back models. The GS certificate records the safety tests to DIN 4573 at 130 and 150 kg, and the maximum weight is printed on the label fixed to each chair.
It is the swivel chair on a longer gas spring, for reception desks and high counters: the seat rises to 630-880 mm, or 645-895 mm with the Kinetic Swing, and a Ø 500 mm footring with a 19 mm brushed aluminium rest adjusts between 300 and 500 mm. The castors are permanently braked and soft-coated so that the user can stand up safely.
The whole Sedus collection, arranged in five groups: polyesters such as Atlantic, Era, Nova, One and Phoenix; recycled polyesters Cura and Cyber; wools such as Fame, Remix and Steelcut Trio 3; Tempt and the Trevira CS fabric Step; synthetic leather, SILVERTEX and Scala leather. Seat and back can be covered differently, and the back cover of the upholstered backrest always follows the model colour.
A German quality mark for office furniture. Certificate 9.212 was issued in Wiesbaden on 11 March 2024 and runs to 10 March 2027; it names both the se:kit office chairs and the visitor, meeting and conference chairs, so the whole family carries the same seal.
Mostly not. Sedus describes the modular elements as easily connected, most of them without tools; the same removability is what gives the chair its high recyclability, because parts separate by material at the end of life. The exceptions are the visitor-chair armrests, which sit between cushion and shell on two screws.
Dust, coffee and monsoon humidity meet the se:kit every week. Sedus assigns each surface its own cleaner in the instructions for use; this is that list, surface by surface, so the mesh stays open and the foam stays put.
