A director’s cabin seldom offers a free wall much longer than two metres. Quinti answers with one code in the New York collection: the Small two-seater, 175 cm across with 155 cm of seat, 35 cm shorter than the standard sofa and built to the same 88 cm depth. It is also the one piece of the family made differently. Every other back cushion is goose feather; on the Small the backs are polyurethane foam. The data sheet says so in a single line, and it is the detail that separates the Small from a shortened copy.

Listed with our sofas and lounge furniture, it shares everything else with its larger relatives: an internal frame wholly in timber on elastic webbing, foams of graded density, feather seat cushions, four legs in 20 mm black steel tube, the seat at 42 cm and the top of the back at 70 cm. It weighs 68 kg against 81 kg for the 210 cm sofa and packs into 1.2 m³ instead of 1.5 m³. In a reception and lobby, two of them placed face to face leave the passage open where one long sofa would close it.

The complete range runs to eleven elements. The sofa-and-armchair group covers the armchair, the standard two-seater, a three-seater of 256 cm, the pouf and the Small. Modular sofas are assembled from a two-seater with no arms, versions with the arm on the right or on the left, a central unit and a corner; a low table completes the set. For a waiting lounge, beside the visitor chairs, the collection is also made with fire-retardant foams approved to 1IM in Italy. La Mercanti checks the cabin dimensions on the drawing before confirming the piece.

FAQ

What size is the New York low table?

115 × 75 cm and 23 cm high, standing on the same black tubular underframe as the sofas. The price list gives the top in veneer: Walnut, Natural, Moka or Open-pore black.

Which New York pieces come without arms?

Two: a two-seater of 205 cm and a single-seat central unit of 83 cm. Both keep the common 88 cm depth, so they line up with the armed sofas and with the corner.

How high and how deep is the seat of New York?

The seat sits 42 cm from the floor and is 65 cm deep; overall height is 70 cm. The figures are identical on the armchair, the sofas and the modular units.

Is New York listed under the Italian CAM criteria?

Yes. Quinti’s 2026 price list marks New York under CAM, the minimum environmental criteria applied to public purchasing in Italy. It is the maker’s declaration for that market.

How hard-wearing are the leatherettes offered on New York?

Quinti’s card rates Ecopelle at 30,000 Martindale cycles with Class 1 fire behaviour, and Ecopelle Soul at more than 100,000 cycles, tested to EN ISO 5470-2, EN 1021-1 and BS 5852.

How to look after the timber parts of New York

On New York the timber you touch is the veneered table top and, where ordered, the painted legs. Five steps taken from Quinti’s care notes.

Identify the timber surfaces

The low table has a veneered top; sofas ordered with kit XNYGLN stand on painted timber legs. The standard legs are steel and follow a different routine.

Use a cloth and lukewarm water

Quinti prescribes a cloth dampened with lukewarm water. No sprays, no wax, no solvent.

Dry at once

Follow with a dry cloth straight away, so that no water stays on the veneer or in the joints.

Keep direct heat away

The care notes warn against direct sources of heat: do not stand the table against a radiator or under a heater outlet.

Allow for light

Timber changes colour when exposed to light, the data sheet reminds. Move trays and books now and then so the top changes evenly.
