By mid-morning, the waiting area of a clinic or a bank branch no longer looks the way the housekeeping staff left it. Someone has pulled a seat nearer to an elderly parent; two colleagues have turned one round to talk. In the Lisse family that seat is the small ottoman: 91 × 55 cm, an irregular oval on plan, as high as the sofa it belongs to. Sabine Marcelis designed the family for LaCividina in 2025 as a long sofa and two ottomans, and the smaller ottoman is the part that goes wherever the room needs it.

What it travels around is serious visitor seating, made for rooms that are full for most of the day. LaCividina builds the frame heavier than usual, for public interiors, out of solid fir and beech with masonite panels, and padding of fire-retardant polyurethane foam. The sofa itself stays put. It rests on a base of black polypropylene and keeps its position while everything near it changes, and that steadiness is what a lounge sofa has to offer the lobby of a hotel or a corporate office.

Listed from what travels to what stays, the family continues like this. The medium ottoman, 139 × 58 cm, can still be dragged across the floor but tends to settle in one spot. The sofa, 337 cm in a single piece, is ordered with its backrest to the left (code 1620) or to the right (code 1621), and that choice is made once, on the drawing. All three wear a fixed cover in bi-elastic fabric, picked from the fabrics the manufacturer recommends. La Mercanti counts the seats a waiting area needs in its busiest hour and adds ottomans to match.

FAQ

How much floor space does the Lisse sofa take up?

The sofa is 337 cm long and 107 cm deep. Those are the outer limits: on the manufacturer’s drawing the sofa is a curve, not a rectangle, so it does not fill the whole of that area. Use the drawing, not the two figures alone, when you mark it on a layout.

At what height from the floor do people sit on Lisse?

At 40 cm. LaCividina gives this one sitting height for the sofa and for both ottomans, so a person who changes from one to another stays at the same level. It also means the three can stand side by side without a step between them.

Can the upholstery be taken off once the sofa has been delivered?

No. LaCividina supplies Lisse with a fixed cover: the fabric is applied at the factory and is not made to be taken off. In practice the choice of fabric is final when the order is placed, so it deserves time and real samples before anyone signs.

Why are there so few seams on Lisse?

Because of the fabric. Lisse is covered in a bi-elastic textile, one that stretches along both of its directions, and the manufacturer explains that this reduces the seams needed to a minimum. The cloth follows the rounded volume of the sofa and of the ottomans without being cut into many panels.

Which designer is behind Lisse, and from which year is it?

The designer is Sabine Marcelis and the year is 2025. LaCividina presents Lisse as her project for the company: a sofa accompanied by two ottomans. We keep her name next to the product in every document we prepare, as the manufacturer does.

How to read a Lisse order code, digit by digit

LaCividina lists the Lisse family under four codes that differ only in the last digit. Five steps to read them correctly and to complete each with its covering category.

Look at the Lisse code ending

Every code in the family has four digits, and the first three never change. Only the last digit tells you which item you are ordering, so that is the one to read twice on a quotation.

Zero and one: the sofa

Code 1620 is the left sofa and code 1621 is the right sofa. The two are mirror images. Before you write either number, compare your layout with the drawing in the technical sheet of the manufacturer.

Two and three: the ottomans

Code 1622 stands for the small ottoman and code 1623 for the medium ottoman. Each is ordered on a line of its own, with its own quantity, and neither is included automatically with the sofa.

Add the covering category

A code alone is not a complete order. Lisse is priced in five covering categories: B, Super, Extra, Maxi and Special. Write the category beside each code, because it decides which fabrics you may choose from.

Name the fabric as well

Finish each line with the name of the fabric. Stretchy, for example, belongs to category B and Mylla to category Super. With code, category and fabric written together, the order leaves no question open.
