Inga Sempé: Paris draws, Europe produces, your lobby wears it

The route her drawings travel is the point: sketched in Paris, put into series by thirteen European houses — HAY in Denmark, Iittala in Finland, Alessi, Cappellini and Mutina in Italy, Svenskt Tenn in Sweden. Inga Sempé, an ENSCI graduate (1993) with a Villa Medici year in Rome, has studied domestic objects and their industrial production since opening her studio in 2001; Paris gave her its Grand Prix du Design in 2002.

The last leg of the route is ours: her name is on Mutina's stoneware roster, and La Mercanti carries it to Indian projects — domestic warmth, fired for corporate traffic.
