One family for the whole cabin: Vaghi Suoni executive and guest chairs
In most cabins the director's chair and the two chairs facing it come from different suppliers, and it shows: two edge details, two fabrics that nearly match, two heights of armrest. Suoni covers both roles in one family — an Executive Armchair and a Guest Chair that share the five shell configurations, the finishes and the same visual language.
They are not, however, the same product with different legs. The executive chair swivels, adjusts in height and tilts with an anti-return lock, and is tested to EN 1335; the guest chair is built for a different duty and is tested to EN 16139, EN 1022 and EN 1728, the standards for seating in non-domestic use. Both are verified by CATAS. The guest chair also comes in two widths, 690 and 730 mm, which matters when three of them have to fit along one side of a table.
The family is drawn by Vaghi's own research department in Italy. La Mercanti specifies the full set for Indian corporate clients and design practices, from the finish schedule to installation.

FAQ
What are the five shell configurations?
SI upholstered with a plain edge, SL with a wooden outer shell and plain edge, SM wooden with a contrasting edge, SH upholstered with a contrasting edge, and SB in two-tone upholstery. All five keep the same dimensions and mechanism. In a warm climate the wooden versions have a practical advantage as well as an aesthetic one: less upholstered surface in contact with the back.
Which base finishes are available?
Three: polished aluminium, aluminium in RAL 9017, and rosewood. On the SL and SM versions the aluminium base carries rosewood caps that match the shell. Against a stone or timber floor the rosewood option ties the chair to the room; polished aluminium is the choice when the base should stay unnoticed.
How far does the seat adjust?
From 420 to 520 mm, a full ten centimetres, and the armrests sit at 650/750 mm. That range covers a wide spread of users without changing model, which is useful in a cabin where the chair may serve different people over the years. Overall width and depth stay at 690 mm.
Does the executive chair tilt?
Yes, with adjustable tension and an anti-return lock that holds the backrest where it is set instead of pushing back. The guest chair does not tilt: it is a fixed seat designed for visitors, which is also why the two are tested to different standards.
Who is behind the design?
Vaghi's internal research department, credited in the catalogue as Vaghi R&D. For a specifier this means the whole Direzionali family shares one authorship and one logic, rather than being assembled from products drawn by different studios at different times.
How to furnish a director's cabin as one composition
A cabin is read as a single image by whoever walks in. Five steps to keep the desk chair and the visitor chairs speaking the same language.
Start with the number of visitors
Two chairs or three changes the width you can afford. The guest chair exists at 690 and 730 mm, and three wide chairs rarely fit where three narrow ones do.
Fix one edge detail for the room
Plain or contrasting, chosen once and applied to both the armchair and the guest chairs. Mixing the two is the most common way a coordinated room stops looking coordinated.
Let the fabrics differ, not the family
A darker fabric on the executive chair and a lighter one on the visitor chairs creates hierarchy while keeping the shell and the base identical.
Check the clearance under the table
Guest chairs live against a table edge. Armrest height of 650/750 mm decides whether they tuck in or stand out into the walkway.
Order the set together
La Mercanti quotes the armchair and the guest chairs as one configuration, so fabric batch and finish match across the whole cabin instead of arriving from two production runs.
