Bronze and copper instead of black: the Milani Synua in an Indian boardroom
In most Indian corporate interiors the metal is already warm — brass handles, teak, bronze trims on the reception counter. Then the chairs arrive in black, and the room splits in two. Synua is one of the few executive chairs that solves this at specification stage: base and armrests can be finished in bronze BROWN 547 or copper X191.Z172, among eleven available options.
The warm finishes work because the chair has visible metal to give them. The five-star base measures 684 mm across and the armrests are solid aluminium, so the colour reads from across the room rather than as a detail. Against a walnut table or a stone-clad wall, bronze settles the composition; copper does the same with a warmer, more contemporary register.
The rest is a continuous upholstered shell with an integrated synchronised mechanism, designed by Giovanni Ingignoli for Milani, near Venice. La Mercanti supports Indian practices and corporate clients from the finish schedule through to delivery on site.

Which version should a managing director's cabin use?
Usually the presidenziale, with the high backrest: in a room where clients are received the chair is part of the composition and needs the height to hold its own against a large desk. The direzionale, with the medium back, suits managers' rooms and glass-fronted cabins where the sightline matters. Both share shell, mechanism and finishes, so the floor stays coherent.
Is the mechanism adjustable for different users?
It is self-weighing, which means the resistance of the backrest adapts to the weight of whoever sits down without any dial to set. There are three locking positions and an anti-shock device that controls the return of the backrest. In practice this is the difference between a chair that is adjusted once and forgotten, and one that never gets adjusted at all.
How does the chair behave on marble or stone floors?
The specification includes rubberised castors, which are the ones to ask for on hard floors: they grip rather than skid and do not mark polished stone. There are also perforated rubberised castors and, for rooms where the chair should not travel at all, fixed glides in chrome-plated metal or black nylon.
What does the packaging look like for a bulk order?
Each chair ships at 22.5 kg gross in a 0.33 m³ carton, or 22.3 kg in 0.30 m³ for the medium-back version. For an order of thirty chairs that is roughly ten cubic metres of cartons to be moved and disposed of, which is worth planning with the site team before the truck arrives rather than on the morning.
Who makes the chair?
Milani, in the Veneto region of northern Italy: offices at Roncade near Treviso, showroom at Meolo near Venice. The 2025 technical sheet identifies every component by code — BG033 for the base, BRSY for the armrests, MS2AQ for the mechanism — which is what makes a matching reorder possible years later. La Mercanti obtains the manufacturer's product documentation when a project requires it.

Photograph the metals already in the room
Handles, light fittings, the frame of the table. Take the photographs in daylight: this is the palette the chair has to join, and it is easier to match than to correct.
Choose warm or cool, then stay there
Bronze and copper sit with brass, teak and stone; aluminium, black and basalt grey sit with steel and glass. Mixing the two families in one room is what makes an expensive interior look assembled.
Test the fabric against the wall, not the desk
The chair is seen against the wall behind it far more often than against the desktop. Hold the sample vertically where the chair will actually stand.
Check the finish under evening light
Polished aluminium picks up every downlight; a coated finish stays matt. Boardrooms are used late, so judge the metal at the hour the room is really used.
