Break the Una Chair down to its material sheet and one number stands out: in the membrane version, aluminium makes up 78% of its 10.9 kg — plastic takes 11%, metal 3%, the rest 8%. Frame, cross elements, armrests, base and even the mechanism housing come from the same die-cast aluminium, a material ICF calls renowned for durability and resistance over time. A chair made almost of one material is a chair that ages evenly — and one whose components dismantle cleanly for repair or recycling, roughly 92% of it when separated correctly.

On that metal spine, the collection builds three executive families for Indian offices: Una Chair with a tensioned membrane in mesh, fabric or leather for meeting rooms and visitors, Una Executive with shaped cushions for long sittings, and Una Plus Executive with a flexing monocoque and synchronised mechanism for the cabin — plus Una Stool at counter height. Low or high back, widths of 51, 60 or 70 cm, six metal finishes. La Mercanti delivers the collection to India with samples first and quality checked at the source: Italian engineering, one material, decades of service.

FAQ

Can the armrests be ordered without, or dressed in leather?
Both. The closed die-cast armrests are optional — dropping them narrows the chair from 60 to 51 cm — and an optional leather cover fixes over them with velcro, replaceable whenever it wears. Finish always matches the frame.
Can Una Stool serve stand-up meeting points?
That is exactly its brief: ICF lists stand-up meeting zones, waiting rooms, receptions, relax areas and airports. The seat rises from 57 to 73 cm and the chromed footrest ring adjusts in height to keep posture easy at counter level.
Which family carries which certificate?
Una Chair and Una Executive are declared to EN 16139:2013 level 1, with the Executive adding ANSI-BIFMA X5.1; the Plus Executive in leather brings EN 1021-1/2 and BS 5852. On the Chair, VOC, CAM, LEED and Ansi Bifma 7.6 reports apply with Mini and Mini Melange fabrics only.
What do the model prefixes UNA.7, UNA.9 and UPL mean?
The three constructions: UNA.7 codes belong to the membrane Una Chair, UNA.9 to the cushioned Una Executive, UPL to the monocoque Una Plus Executive. Within each series, models differ by back height and mechanism.
Which base carries the Una Plus Executive?
Only the five-star die-cast aluminium base on braked Ø 65 mm castors — it is the desk chair of the family. Four-star bases with glides remain the signature of the meeting and visitor models.

Choosing casters or glides for Una Chair, floor by floor

Indian office floors run from granite to carpet: five steps match every Una Chair to the surface under it.

Map your floor surfaces first
Granite, marble, wood and tile are what the standard soft-tread casters are built for — check each room before ordering.
Put glides where chairs must hold still
Meeting and visitor seats take the nylon glides with soft rubber core, keeping rows aligned through the longest reviews.
Order hard treads for carpeted cabins
On soft flooring ICF supplies hard-tread casters on request — the opposite of instinct, and correct.
Trust the brake
Standard casters carry a safety brake to EN 12529:2001, so the chair holds its ground when the user stands up.
Swap them by hand later
Casters and glides snap in and pull out without tools, so a re-planned floor never needs a service call.
