Bespoke: size, colour, finish

A shipment from Fiorano Modenese to an Indian site is measured twice: once in square metres, once in kilograms. Paper41 answers both. The Pro and Up series are 3.5 mm thick with a fibreglass sheet bonded to the back, so a box holds two 50×100 cm slabs – exactly one square metre for 8 kg – and a pallet takes 30 square metres for 240 kg. That is a third of the dead weight a conventional porcelain wall of the same area would put into a container, and it changes what a lift, a stairwell and a two-man crew can do in a working day.

Lux is the heavier cousin by choice: 60×120 cm at 6 mm, glossy, three slabs to a 34 kg box, 38.88 square metres to a pallet, and a modulus of rupture of 45 N/mm² where the standard asks for 35. Between them sits Up, same 3.5 mm body as Pro with a matt relief surface. What none of them do is go on the floor: 41zero42 declares the family for wall cladding, interior on all three and exterior on Pro and Up, and rules out pool walls everywhere. On an imported wall finish the landed cost is weight multiplied by distance, and eight kilograms to the square metre make that argument before the design one begins. How much does a pallet of Paper41 weigh?
Pro and Up: 30 boxes, 30 square metres, 240 kg. Lux: 18 boxes, 38,88 square metres, 612 kg. The thin series is light enough for a small crew and a service lift; Lux needs proper handling at 34 kg a box.
Does the thickness affect how it is fixed?
Pro and Up are 3,5 mm with a fibreglass sheet bonded to the back, which is what makes a slab that size handleable. They still go up as porcelain: full bed, 1 mm joint, cementitious grout, and the first course at least 4 mm clear of the floor.
How should the material be stored before installation?
Under cover, protected from weather, with the protective caps kept on. In handling, avoid contact with abrasive materials and never rub one slab against another or against the bench — the decorated face is the finished face.
Can Paper41 be used outdoors on a facade wall?
Pro and Up are declared for exterior wall cladding, Lux only for interiors. Colour stability under light is tested to DIN 51094 with no visible alteration on the two thin series, which is the relevant value for a sunlit wall.
Which series works best for a large lobby elevation?
Lux: the 60×120 cm slab means fewer joints across a wide wall, and a modulus of rupture of 45 N/mm² against the 35 required. Every box holds three different graphics, so the elevation does not fall into a visible repeat.

How to order and install Paper41 by 41zero42 in India

Choose the series by wall, not by mood board
Pro and Up cover 50×100 cm at 3,5 mm with thirteen and three patterns; Lux gives 60×120 cm at 6 mm and six patterns. Thin and light for bathrooms and backsplashes, the heavier glossy slab for lobbies and long elevations.
Match the series to the room
Thin and light for bathrooms, backsplashes and tight service cores; the 60×120 cm glossy slab where a lobby elevation should read with as few joints as possible. Fire class follows the series: A2-s1, d0 against A1.
Keep the boxes covered until the day
Leave the protective caps on and the material under a roof, away from weather. Nothing is rested on the decorated face, and no slab is dragged across another.
Set out the pattern before fixing
Lay the slabs on the floor and read the continuity: the drawing carries over from one piece to the next on a 1 mm joint, and tolerance can reach 1,6 mm across a 100 cm diagonal. Agree the sequence, then start fixing at least 4 mm above the floor.
Grout and seal as specified
Cementitious grout only, in the colour 41zero42 names for that pattern, applied with plastic trowels after masking the edges with paper tape. Remove the tape within thirty minutes and use neutral silicone — never acetic — wherever the wall meets a tray or a frame.
