Large Indian fit-outs live or die on repetition: hundreds of slabs, one look. Mutina builds Pico for exactly that discipline — industrial production, squared and rectified edges, each slab exactly equal to the next, declared calibers and a recommended 2 mm joint. What repeats is deliberately quiet: a grid of silkscreened dots, raised or recessed by 1.5 mm, on clay-mixed bases that run from Blanc to the deep Up Blue.
The material is unglazed porcelain stoneware with a homogeneous body: water absorption of 0.06 percent, surface hardness of 8 on the Mohs scale, stain resistance in class 5, chemical and thermal-shock endurance certified under ISO 10545. Rated for floors and walls, indoors and outdoors, with R11 slip resistance in the UP and DOWN textures, it lets one material brief cover the lobby, the conference floor and the shaded terrace.
The design is by Ronan and Erwan Bouroullec — Red Dot Design Award 2012 — and it scales without losing its manners. La Mercanti prices Pico by project phase and briefs the installing team on the batch logic the floor needs: material drawn from several boxes, tones balanced across the field, trims arriving with the slabs.

Consistency is the collection's engineering brief: industrial production, squared and rectified edges, declared calibers for each thickness, and the Mutina sheet's own phrase — every slab exactly equal to the next. The 120x120 cm slab, laid with the recommended 2 mm joint and back-buttering, gives the most continuous field with the fewest lines. The 60x120 and 60x60 formats resolve narrower rooms and service areas without changing the surface language. Two thicknesses — 12 and 10.5 mm — help keep floor levels flush between zones.
The technical sheet rates Pico for exterior floors and walls: thermal-shock resistance under ISO 10545-9, frost endurance under ISO 10545-12 and water absorption of 0.06 percent. The UP and DOWN textures carry R11 slip ratings for wet monsoon surfaces, and step treads cover external stairs. Inside and outside share the same material, so thresholds disappear visually.
Yes — unglazed porcelain with 0.06 percent absorption, class 5 stain resistance and chemical resistance certified under ISO 10545-13, cleaned with a neutral detergent. Barefoot ratings under DIN 51097 reach class B in the UP textures. La Mercanti advises texture by texture, because values differ between UP, DOWN and the Satin versions.
La Mercanti quotes Pico for Indian projects zone by zone, ships physical samples of the five bases and both textures, and compiles the technical file — ISO 10545 values, slip ratings, recycled content and VOC class A+ — that consultants ask for at approval stage.
