Millions of people have held his work without knowing it: Karim Rashid has designed packaging for Pepsi, Method and Sustain, and everyday products for Umbra, 3M and Coway. That is the point of his practice — design as a public matter, not a luxury for a closed circle. He was born in Cairo in 1960 and works from New York. The numbers behind that idea are unusual: more than 4,000 designs in production, over 400 international awards and projects in more than 47 countries.
