Eidos by i4Mariani — the desk that lives at home

i4Mariani

Ferruccio Laviani

In Indian homes the study has become the second boardroom — and the dining table has always been the first. Eidos is the rare piece designed for exactly that double life: i4Mariani declares it transversal, «capable of overcoming the distinction between workspace and living» — executive desk, meeting table, or a fully-fledged dining table. One form, 320 by 120 centimetres, at ease on either side of the corridor.

The form is Ferruccio Laviani's, 2026 — the third chapter of his language for i4Mariani after Euclideo and Cartesiano: a 3 cm top on a trapezoid base, dark brown stained rosewood as the standard veneer, saddle leather and leather-colour lacquers from the PS and PF collections as alternatives. Technology stays beneath the surface until called: an ultra-thin 18.5-inch motorized monitor rises and tilts at a button press, then vanishes behind brushed aluminium when family replaces the video call.

Two drawers with pen holder and saddle-leather bottoms, two doors on the technical compartment and two flush electrical boxes complete the discipline. La Mercanti configures Eidos for Indian residences and executive floors alike, with schedules and drawings supplied with the quotation and finishes locked at order stage.

FAQ

Is Eidos meant for the office or for the home?
Both, by declaration: i4Mariani conceives it as a transversal product that overcomes the split between workspace and living — executive desk, meeting table or fully-fledged dining table. For an Indian residence with a serious study, that means one great piece instead of two compromises.
How does the hidden monitor behave during family hours?
It simply is not there: lowered, the ultra-thin 18.5-inch screen disappears behind a brushed aluminium cover flush with the top. At work hours, one button raises and tilts it, connected to a desktop or laptop. The children see a dining table; the board sees a command post.
Which finishes suit an Indian interior best?
The standard dark brown stained rosewood carries formality naturally and pairs with warm interiors; the saddle-leather top is the tactile alternative. The base can match in leather or take lacquer in any leather colour of the PS and PF collections — one palette across wood, hide and paint.
What practical storage does the single form include?
Two drawers — pen holder, saddle-leather bottoms — and two doors opening the technical compartment where power, cables and adapters live out of sight. Two flush electrical boxes on the top serve laptops and phones without trailing wires.
What does a La Mercanti supply to India include?
We fix configuration and finishes at order — the monitor and electrical boxes are factory options — then coordinate export packing and shipping with your project or residence. Schedules and drawings accompany the quotation; finish samples are billed and fully credited on confirmation.

One table, two households of duty: planning Eidos in India

For Indian executives and architects furnishing homes that also govern businesses — five steps to make one 320x120 form serve both masters.

Choose the room by both duties
List what the table must host: morning reviews, video calls, Sunday dinners. Eidos accepts all three — but the room needs circulation for twelve chairs as much as for one.
Lock the technology with the order
The rising monitor and the two electrical boxes are built in at the factory. If video calls are daily, specify both now; the rosewood top cannot be opened later.
Set the palette across materials
Rosewood top with a leather-clad base for the classic study; lacquer in a PS/PF leather colour where the interior asks for colour discipline. One palette decision covers wood, hide and paint.
Dress the table for its evening role
Plan table linen, lighting and chairs that move gracefully from meeting to meal. The aluminium cover closes over the screen — the rest of the transformation is the household's choreography.
Close the order with the full schedule
Single size, tech options, finishes, optional leather writing pad: with the schedule complete, La Mercanti aligns production and delivery with your home or project timeline.
