An entrance can be furnished, or it can be built. Kyo Reception belongs to the second school: Martex conceives it as an architectural element rather than a piece of furniture that happens to stand in the lobby. Volumes are pure and load-like, proportions are balanced against the room, and the thick top draws one continuous line across the entrance the way a beam draws a ceiling.
That is why it scales the way architecture does. The seven compositions of the abacus grow from a compact 1800 mm linear desk to double-body schemes for large corporate halls, all at the same 1000 mm depth, all in right- or left-handed versions - the element adapts to the plan, from an executive headquarters to a multi-floor corporate building, without changing its language.
