Designer office tables with a seat built into the bookcase: Lay by Archiutti
In most Indian corporate floors the visitor waits on a chair parked by the door. Lay gives that wait a place: between the storage modules of its bookcases, an upholstered bench in melange fabric sits on the same base as the shelves, in grey, green or violet. The bookcase stops being a wall of files and becomes a short corridor with somewhere to sit, so a supplier, a candidate or a colleague between two meetings does not occupy a cabin or a conference room.
The rest of the programme shares one frame: oval-section steel legs that meet in a U-shaped die-cast aluminium joint, painted white, red, blue, green or anthracite. Tops come in 18 mm melamine, 12 mm CDF or, on the executive version, Canaletto walnut veneer. The concept and creative direction are by Margherita Rui, the product design by e-ggs. From the same structure come the director’s table with side unit, the manager’s table resting on a storage unit, the staff table with a bench for two to six, and meeting tables in soft, rectangular, high and round shapes.
La Mercanti places the Lay bench where your floor plan shows the flow of visitors, orders the fabric sample for approval before the container leaves Italy, and ships to India with the bench listed on its own line of the order.
