Four squares open the Grand More range by Estel. Three come with top access, cable tray and sleeve, at 120, 140 or 160 cm a side (M6210, M6212, M6214), in veneer, ceramic or glass, either clear or back-lacquered etched; the fourth, 200 × 200 (M6226), trades the tray for a cable column. On this page of director and MD tables they are the pieces for a meeting held round a square.

Clear glass cannot be wired, so that top goes without top access. The rest is the Grand More skeleton: legs narrowing from 60 to 40 mm, an aluminium frame 60 mm high that carries the load on its own, a 22 mm top flush with it, corners R35. The structure comes in Verniciato Carbon Glacé, with Metallo Luxury as the alternative, and the design credit goes to Estel R&D.

Sort the collection by the way power reaches the top, and the executive office falls into order: cable hole or frame top access on the veneer director table, 160, 180 or 200 × 90; top access on the service unit, P90 or L205, for the table resting on it; tray and sleeve on the three smaller squares; a Carbon Glacé column on the 200 and on the rectangular conference and meeting tables, 180 to 320 cm; six Tipo 8 modules, or five and a Tipo 18, in the well of the Sharing table, 320 or 360 × 140, whose sound-absorbing panel rises with a button.

La Mercanti draws the square table inside the director's cabin with the chairs pulled out, so the client sees whether the door still opens.

FAQ

Is Carbon Glacé a colour or the finish of the whole structure?

The finish of the whole frame. Verniciato Carbon Glacé is the painted version of the Grand More structure, which means the epoxy powder-coated legs and the aluminium perimeter profiles alike. The other route is Metallo Luxury, where the client names Cromato, Bronzo opaco, Ottone fiammato opaco or Peltro Quarzo when ordering. On the meeting tables the cable column stays Carbon Glacé whichever structure is chosen, and the 2019 catalogue photographs both the Sharing table and the 280 cm meeting table with a carbon glacé structure.

Catalogue or price list: which one wins when the figures disagree?

The price list, and Estel says so in print. Page two of that list, the September 2021 European edition, states that wherever technical characteristics or sizes differ between it and a catalogue, the list is the one that counts. Estel provides three documents for Grand More, sent by La Mercanti: the technical details, the 2019 catalogue that shares the list's title and the Product Care booklet on cleaning and maintenance. For any dimension, then, the reference is the list, at its pages 38 to 53.

Does the fabric of the lifting panel survive a wash at 60 degrees?

Estel does not declare the fibre of the Sharing panel, so the only guide is its general page on fabrics. There, polyester and Trevira CS fabrics are for the most part washable at 60 °C, while wool fabrics are not washed at all. Spills should be lifted straight away; ordinary detergents and solvents are ruled out, and a stubborn mark is a job for a dry-cleaning specialist. Product Care wants the fabric cleaned at least once a year, and for dried marks it suggests a gentle brush or a vacuum on a low setting.

What is the IEA60 part that Estel lists for the leg of the table?

A clip-on cable management profile for the leg, in the price list's own words: code IEA60, painted metal, 50 × 14 × 14 cm. It appears on page 48 of the list among the Grand More accessories, beside the single and double monitor arms, the extendable CPU holder and the two table lamps, and like each of them it carries a code of its own. When a project needs it, it goes into the order as a separate line.

Why must solvents stay away from the underside of a back-lacquered glass top?

Product Care answers it in one line: no solvents on the lacquered underside, because they would spoil the paint applied to the lower face of a back-lacquered glass. The upper face takes a clean, soft, damp cloth, a sponge or a chamois; heavy dirt and fingerprints take a neutral product or an ordinary glass cleaner. Steel wool, aggressive detergents and dishwashing liquid are excluded altogether.

Cleaning the ceramic top of Grand More the way Estel's Product Care sets it out

Five rules from Estel's Product Care 2020 for the ceramic tops of Grand More: the daily cloth, the periodic detergent, the sanitisers allowed, the stains to rinse at once and the edges to protect.

A damp microfibre, every day

Daily, the ceramic top of Grand More asks for one thing: a damp microfibre cloth. Product Care allows this fibre on ceramic while its veneer section rules it out. The general section of Product Care adds the movement: horizontal or vertical passes, never circular ones.

Neutral detergent, soft sponge

When the cloth is not enough, Product Care prescribes a liquid neutral detergent, worked with a soft sponge or a microfibre cloth. Abrasive sponges are excluded, and the booklet gives its reason: they can leave differences in sheen between one area of the slab and the next.

Sanitise with alcohol, never a spray

The ceramic surface withstands household sanitisers based on alcohol, so no special product is needed. What stays out: abrasives, solvents, bleach, strong acids and bases. The sanitiser is never sprayed onto the surface, because it leaves haloes; it goes on the cloth, the top is wiped, then rinsed.

Coffee, tea, red wine: rinse at once

The slab is impermeable and resists water, liquids and almost all household chemicals, yet Estel asks that deposits of staining liquids such as coffee, tea or red wine, and acidic or colouring substances, be removed quickly by rinsing with water. Water, not a stronger product, is the remedy the booklet names for these marks.

Protect the sides and the edges

Estel declares ceramic highly resistant to scratches and to high temperatures. Product Care asks to avoid knocks on the most exposed points, the sides and the edges of the top. For dust, a soft cloth passed regularly is all the maintenance the slab requires.
