Reception seating Suiseki by LaCividina in an office lobby

Three elements, one language: how Suiseki is composed

laCividina

Andrea Steidl

Most modular seating starts from finished pieces and cuts them into sections. Suiseki starts from three elements and builds upwards: the seat — low and wide — the backrest and the armrest, combined, as the manufacturer puts it, in a staggered balance of heights, widths and depths. A run for a corporate lobby and a single armchair for a director's waiting corner come from the same vocabulary.

Designed by Andrea Steidl in 2019 and named after the Japanese art of arranging stones found in nature, the collection carries a frame reinforced for public areas, fire-retardant foam and carbon-fibre-backed seams. It is also available made to measure.

Fabric, module count, dimensions: the composition is tested before ordering. La Mercanti works it up with LaCividina and returns it confirmed.

FAQ

What are the three base elements?
The seat, low and wide, the backrest and the armrest, combined in a staggered balance of heights, widths and depths.
Can one collection cover several rooms?
Yes — the same elements produce the modular version, the sofa and the single armchair, so a lobby and a small waiting corner share one language.
Is the collection suitable for public interiors?
The frame is declared reinforced for use in public areas and the foam is specified as fire-retardant.
Can dimensions be adapted to a project?
The product is declared available made to measure, alongside the standard compositions.
What does the name refer to?
To suiseki, the Japanese art of arranging stones found in nature — the manufacturer's stated reference for the organic volumes.

How to specify upholstery for a reception that gets used

The covering decides the sofa's second year. Five checks before the fabric is chosen.

Count who passes, not who sits
Reception upholstery meets sleeves and bags more than bodies.
Ask whether covers come off
Removable covers turn a replacement into a cleaning job.
Match the tone to the traffic
Pale fabrics belong where fewer people wait, not where more do.
Write the reference down
A later addition matches only if the code was recorded.
Confirm with the maker
La Mercanti records fabric and composition in LaCividina's confirmation.
