The ADI Design Index is not a prize evening. It is the annual register in which the Italian association for industrial design records the products a committee has examined and considered worth documenting, and from which candidates for the larger awards are later drawn. Zinta entered the 2015 edition, the year after its launch. For anyone specifying seating for a lobby or a waiting area, that reads differently from a marketing line: it means a panel looked at the object. What they looked at is straightforward — a wooden shell in various finishes carried by a metal frame, offered in three versions that differ only in how the padding is arranged, with fabrics, leathers and coated fabrics for the upholstery. Which version belongs in which room, and how long each run should be, is what La Mercanti sets out line by line.

FAQ

How is the seating system built?
A wooden shell in various finishes rests on a metal frame; the same structure carries all three versions of the collection.
When was the collection designed?
In 2014, by the studio Lievore Altherr Molina; the register entry followed the year after.
What are the three versions for?
Lounge, Eating and Waiting share the same seating system and differ only in how the padding is arranged.
Can the shell be specified without upholstery?
Yes, in the Eating version with the shell left visible; the same version also takes a pad on the seating surface.
Which environmental documents does the producer declare?
A GREENGUARD Gold certification and an EPD certification are listed; the exact scope is confirmed by the producer.

How to choose Zinta upholstery for an air-conditioned room

Five steps from the room's climate to the material written on the order.

Note where the air actually blows
Seats directly under a vent behave differently from those along an inner wall; mark both positions on the plan.
Check the daylight on the seating line
A composition beside full-height glazing takes more sun on one side: it is worth knowing before the material is chosen.
Match the material to the cleaning cycle
Coated fabric wipes down between visitors, fabric suits calmer rooms, leather asks to be kept away from heat sources.
Keep one material per room
A single upholstery family per room prevents the wrong product being used on the wrong surface.
Write the choice beside the code
Send the plan with the room conditions noted and the upholstery comes back recorded on the same line as the item.
