Mosaic in India has a reputation problem: gorgeous in renders, endless on site. Botanica attacks the timeline — the collection is sold exclusively on nets of roughly 40×24 cm, each sheet carrying the organic tessellation pre-spaced, edges interlocking invisibly with the next. A crew lays half a square metre per gesture instead of a chip at a time, and the sheet discipline is written in the datasheet: flat dry substrate, 3 mm joints, grout wiped before it dries.

The design is Tokujin Yoshioka's reading of nature (2022): Seed, a soft hexagonal cell, and Flower, a five-petal bloom, in White and Grey — the wax-matt «extremely pleasant to the touch» for floors (R9, DIN 51097 B, DCOF 0.52 declared), the super glossy for walls (DCOF 0.31 declared). Housekeeping numbers built for Indian duty: stain class 5, class A against acids, household agents and pool chemicals, absorption 0.2%, thermal-shock and frost resistance. Grout is a declared design variable — terracotta, green, cerulean on White; electric blue or pink on Grey. 24% recycled under LEED 4.1.

Where the sheets go

Washrooms and spa floors (matt), lobby and vanity walls (glossy), covered pool surrounds, verandah cladding — indoor and outdoor. Certificates download from this page.

FAQ

How much faster is net-mounted mosaic on a real site?
Each net carries the full organic pattern pre-spaced over roughly 40x24 cm - about 0.096 sqm per gesture, with edges that interlock invisibly into the next sheet. Compared to piece-by-piece mosaic, a bathroom wall becomes a day's work instead of a week's. The discipline that buys the speed is written in the datasheet: perfectly flat, dry substrate, 3 mm joints, and grout wiped off before it dries - late cleaning is the one mistake a mosaic never forgives.
Which finish goes where - and is the split trustworthy?
It is declared, not implied: wax-matt for floors with R9, DIN 51097 B and DCOF 0.52; super glossy at DCOF 0.31 for walls and dry floors only. That honesty protects the project: spa and washroom floors take matt, vanity and lobby walls take glossy shine. Zone-by-zone confirmation stays with the designer, datasheet downloadable from this page.
Can it handle pool areas, hard water and Indian housekeeping?
The declarations line up: class A resistance to acids, bases, household chemicals and swimming-pool chemicals; stain class 5 - the top grade; absorption 0.2%; thermal-shock and frost resistance for covered outdoor runs. Care is neutral detergent; the only real enemy is grit, so mat the entrances.
What role does grout colour play?
A starring one - the 3 mm joint wraps every Seed and Flower, so grout is nearly a second material. Mutina's catalogue suggests terracotta, green or cerulean with White and electric blue or pink with Grey, beyond classic white and dark grey. Same BOQ line, five different rooms. La Mercanti prepares grouted mock-ups before you commit.
What supports a green-building submission?
A declared 24% recycled content under LEED 4.1 - the highest in the Mutina range we carry - plus EPD, VOC emission data, Declaration of Contents and SVHC declaration on request through La Mercanti. Certificates download from this page; sample costs are fully credited at order confirmation.

Mosaic without the slow: Botanica in five steps

Five steps for Indian architects and project heads: Yoshioka's organic sheets across washrooms, spas and verandahs - beauty on the render, speed on the site.

Map matt and glossy zones first
Matt floors for washrooms and spa (DCOF 0.52 declared), glossy walls for lobby and vanity drama. One colour, two finishes, zero palette drift.
Pick one organism per space
Seed for calm cellular fields, Flower for blooming feature surfaces - the geometries live apart.
Lock the grout colour early
Terracotta, green, cerulean on White; electric blue, pink on Grey. Approve a grouted sample panel - dry chips lie.
Write the sheet discipline into the contract
Flat dry substrate, 3 mm joints, grout wiped before drying - named steps, priced steps.
Order by nets with wastage
Five nets per box (0.48 sqm): La Mercanti converts room areas to boxes, adds cutting allowance and coordinates delivery with your contractor.
