The number that matters most for Indian buildings is the smallest one on the sheet: 0.06% water absorption. Through three months of humidity, driven rain on a verandah or the daily wash-down of a lobby, Puzzle takes in almost nothing — the 0.5% porcelain threshold sits nearly ten times higher. Add stain resistance in class 5 and declared chemical resistance, and Barber & Osgerby's geometry keeps its first-day face through weather that ruins softer surfaces.
The design system deserves the durability. Five colour families named after islands — Aland, Skye, Anglesey, Creta, Murano — each carrying six graphic patterns, three plain tiles and two symmetrical Edge designs in a single 25×25 format, glazed porcelain at a full 14 mm with five hand-painted-effect textures. Patterns compose «like maps, islands or clouds», so a Mumbai office and a Bengaluru hotel can specify the identical family and never look alike.
Where it earns its keep
Reception floors that see monsoon footfall, tea-point walls, executive washrooms, the shaded terrace: one material, R10 with barefoot class C throughout, frost-tested for hill-station projects. LEED-relevant at 20% declared recycled content with VOC class A+ for interior air. Datasheet and certificates can be downloaded from this page.
