A training room with tables seats twenty; the same room with tablet chairs seats thirty and rearranges in minutes. That is the case for Seela with its swivelling tablet — a writing surface in 10 mm HPL or Fenix, black or white, that turns the chair itself into the workstation. For campuses, academies and corporate learning centres, the tablet version means the room needs chairs, a screen and nothing else.

The chair underneath is Antti Kotilainen’s design for Lapalma: a sinuous polypropylene shell running into the seat, an insert fixed by four screws and interchangeable between wood, polypropylene and fabric, and a roster of bases — stacking sled and four-leg versions for the seminar hall, swivel bases on self-braking castors, stools at 65 and 75 cm for lab benches, low lounge versions for breakout corners. The stacking chairs carry EN 1728 and EN 16139 level 2 extreme declarations, and the series is covered by an EPD.

La Mercanti configures mixed fleets for Indian campuses and corporate academies — tablet chairs for the classroom, plain versions for the boardroom, stools for the café — under one specification and one point of contact.

FAQ

How is the seat kept fresh across a large fleet?
The insert is fixed by four screws and interchangeable, so worn seats are renewed as components and the fleet stays uniform year after year.
Which versions handle daily rearrangement best?
The stacking sled and four-leg chairs clear the room fastest, and both carry EN 1728:2012 AC:2013 6.17 and EN 16139:2013 level 2 extreme declarations.
Are there matching seats for the campus café?
Yes: stools at 65 and 75 cm on sled, steel or wooden bases, plus low lounge versions for breakout corners, all sharing the same shell and finishes.
What sustainability paperwork accompanies the series?
Lapalma publishes an EPD for the family; La Mercanti includes it with the quotation together with the declared test results whenever the brief requires documentation.
Can deliveries be phased across a large campus?
La Mercanti plans shipments building by building under one specification, keeping codes and finishes identical from the first classroom to the last.

How to plan the delivery day for Seela chairs

Five steps that let a large Seela delivery reach the right floors without stopping the campus.

Confirm the delivery window
Agree with La Mercanti a time slot when the goods lift and service corridors are free of classes.
Match cartons to rooms
Label the packing list by room before arrival, so each batch of Seela chairs travels straight to its floor.
Protect the route
Cover floors and door frames along the path from the dock to the rooms, especially at tight turns.
Check quantities on arrival
Count cartons against the delivery note before signing, recording any remark on the document itself.
Keep the packaging until assembly ends
Dispose of cartons only when every chair is assembled, so no fittings or components are lost with the wrapping.
