The oval Asymmetrical Meeting stands on one cylinder, and Tecno treats that cylinder as an engineering problem rather than a base. The Ø300 table weighs 540 kg and the whole of it bears on about one square metre of floor; the price list therefore gives the project team a choice. Either the table is anchored with the eight bolts supplied, SLM 10 × 60, into R250 reinforced concrete to a depth of no more than 8 cm; or, where drilling is not possible, a stabilizer is ordered separately, a set of shaped plates adding 110 kg of ballast inside the base. Tecno adds the sentence a structural engineer wants to read: the load the slab can carry per square metre must be at least the weight of the table plus the stabilizer. For a boardroom on the fourteenth floor of a Mumbai tower that is the first line of the specification, not the last.

The rest of the family is lighter on the floor because it stands on two feet. The rectangular tables, 380 × 160, 450 × 180 and 550 × 200 cm, rest their 7.5 cm top on two bases of different length and width; the round tables, Ø160 and Ø180, carry one solid top without any metal frame beneath it; every version stands 75 cm high, rectangulars and ovals also at 67. Fourteen lacquer colours or ten veneers for the top, lacquered bases matched or contrasted, and the executive desk, side cabinet included, drawn from the same hand. In India La Mercanti asks for the slab data before quoting an oval Asymmetrical Meeting, so that bolts or ballast is decided on paper and not on the day of installation.

Which round tables belong to the collection?
Two, Ø160 and Ø180 cm, 75 cm high, with a central base and a single top: Tecno describes them as tables without metal frame and without electrification, the simplest members of Asymmetrical Meeting. They weigh 169 and 189 kg and ship in 1.3 to 1.4 m³.
Can the base be a different colour from the top?
Yes. The lacquered base of Asymmetrical Meeting has its own code, matt or gloss, in the same palette as the tops, and Tecno prints that tops and bases can be freely combined. A Black base under a light oak top is a price-list combination, not a special request.
How thick is the top?
7.5 cm on the meeting tables, half a centimetre more than the 7 cm of the Asymmetrical desk. The thickness is what lets the longest top run cantilevered beyond two bases, and it is also why these tables weigh what a small car does.
What is the leather pad for?

What does Tecno say about its wood and marble?
