Trade terms for professionals and design studios

On a designer desk, the storage side is not a detail — it decides which hand opens the drawer, where the visitor sits and how the room reads from the door. Cattelan Italia states the rule for Nasdaq without ambiguity: at 215x100 cm the drawer unit can be fixed on either side of the desk; at 260x120 cm it is mounted on the short side only.

That single line settles a great deal of an MD cabin layout. The smaller size mirrors itself and adapts to the room as built; the larger one asks for the plan to be drawn around it. Both share the same architecture: one steel leg in embossed lacquer, a wooden drawer unit lacquered in the same tone, and a leather pad on the top in twenty-one colours.

The top is chosen in Canaletto walnut, Heritage oak, black open-pore elm or the ceramic of the Keramik version. La Mercanti coordinates specification, shipping and installation for Indian corporate projects.

FAQ

What changes between the wood and the ceramic version?
Only the top: wood in the original, Marmi ceramic with a black chrome insert in the Keramik. Leg, drawer unit, pad and sizes stay identical.
Which woods are offered?
Canaletto walnut, Heritage oak and elm lacquered matt black with an open pore, so the grain stays readable under the hand.
What does the embossed lacquer do?
Its grainy film makes the surface considerably more resistant to scratches than a smooth lacquer, as the manufacturer states.
How many colours does the leather pad come in?
Twenty-one catalogue colours, from Oyster and Ardesia to Bordeaux, Cognac and Oliva; the pad marks the writing area on the top.
Is any special tool needed to assemble it?
No: the instructions are in the packaging and the maker asks for screws to be tightened by hand, ruling out power tools.

How to match the desk finish with the rest of the cabin

Five steps for architects and admin teams coordinating one desk with panelling, storage and seating.

Start from what cannot be changed
Flooring, panelling and existing storage set the range: the desk enters an interior that already has a tone.
Choose the metal as the connecting thread
Graphite, titanium or bronze returns on leg, structure and drawer unit — one metal reads as intent, three read as accident.
Decide whether the top should stand out
A ceramic with strong figure becomes the centre of the room; walnut or oak lets the seating and the artwork lead.
Let the leather pad answer the chair
The pad is the surface touched every day: tie it to the upholstery of the executive chair, or set it deliberately against it.
Record every code in the order
List top, metal and leather codes with the size and drawer side through La Mercanti: production follows that document.
