Italian office table Attiva by Codutti with panelled sides in walnut melamine

Office table that reports to two departments: Attiva by Codutti, operative in the field, executive in the catalogue

Codutti

Codutti's own documents disagree about where Attiva belongs, and the disagreement is the useful part. The catalogue introduces it as an executive programme for the entry level — the styling the market asks of a first managerial desk, reworked in the Codutti manner. The company website files the same collection under operative furniture. Both are right: the desk is built like an executive piece, with a polished aluminium profile at the joint between top and side and hand-stitched leather on the legs, and priced and sized like an operative one, 180 to 220 cm wide on a standard 90 cm depth.

That is why an Indian office can use it on two floors at once. The Pannellata and the Ponte, on 40 mm sides or triangular steel tube, furnish the open plan; the Conica with leather-covered legs and a glass top goes into the cabin of the department head; the same finish — ash corda, lacquer sand, melamine walnut — runs through cabinets to 282 cm, bookcases with glass shelves, elliptical meeting tables for eighteen and the Cosmo chairs. La Mercanti draws the two floors on one plan for Bengaluru or Mumbai clients, marks which desks carry which support, and has every finish code confirmed by Codutti before the order leaves.

FAQ

What are Ponte and Anello, and how do they differ?
Two supports made of the same 50 mm triangular steel tube, chromed or white. Ponte is a bridge: an open frame under each end of the top. Anello is a ring: the tube closes into a loop. Both take 18 or 40 mm tops or the 10 mm glass top, and on meeting tables Codutti uses bridges at the ends and rings in the middle.
How does the top attach on the Pannellata?
Through a shaped polished aluminium profile that joins the 40 mm side to a top of the same thickness. The typing desk and the extensions of this version use the same profile, so a row of Pannellata desks shows one continuous detail.
Does the extension on castors come with drawers?
Yes, in two layouts: an open unit with a glass shelf paired with a three-drawer pedestal, or paired with a drawer-and-file pedestal, both under a single 18 mm top of 84 × 57 cm. The same combinations exist on adjustable feet instead of castors.
Which leather colours are standard on Attiva?
White, black and dove grey, hand-stitched with a saddle stitch on legs, front panels, chair shells and accessories. Beyond the three, the Rainbow programme opens the Codutti sample book with seventeen leathers for the whole collection.
Is there a modesty panel on every version?
Every version can have a melamine modesty panel in white or black covering the legs at the back. On top of it Codutti offers a front lining panel in leather or boiled wool that links the top to the panel; it is optional and is ordered as a separate item.

How to test an Attiva office table in the showroom

Five checks to make on an Attiva table before ordering for an Indian office: sit, touch, open, look under and take the codes home.

Sit at the height of the version
Ask which support the showroom Attiva has: Pannellata and Conica are higher than Ponte and Anello, and a glass top lowers the table further. Sit with the chair you use in the office.
Run a hand along the joint
On a Pannellata or a bookcase, follow the aluminium profile where the Attiva top meets the side: the edge should feel continuous under the fingers, without a step.
Open what opens
Pull the pedestal drawers to the end, slide the doors of the 140REM extension, lift the socket tray of the meeting table: on Attiva every moving part is part of the price list.
Look under the top
Check where the cable exits sit on the Attiva table and whether the modesty panel reaches the floor; a second cable pair can be added on order.
Photograph the finish codes
Note the codes on the Attiva sample, corda or terra for ash, sand or gunmetal for lacquer: La Mercanti orders from the codes, not from the photograph.
