Pedrali

Two codes of Buddy Oasi differ by fifty millimetres and nothing else. The 206 and the 208 sit at 400 mm; the 207 and the 209 sit at 450 mm. On a drawing the difference disappears; in a building it does not. A 400 mm seat invites a low, relaxed posture and reads as lounge; a 450 mm seat is closer to the height most people rise from without using their hands, which is why it tends to win in reception areas where guests come and go every few minutes. Pedrali offers both in every size and in every fabric category, so the decision is not a compromise between look and use — it is a decision about who sits and for how long.

The rest of the specification is common to the four codes: a pine plywood panel moulded with polyurethane foam at 29 kg/m³, upholstered and declared class 1 IM on the indoor version, over a pressure die-cast plate in aluminium carrying legs of 22 mm diameter. The 209.3 backrest is 340 mm high and turns any of them into a sofa. Beyond the islands the Buddy collection offers the 210-215 ottomans in 550×550, 900×900 and 1100×550 mm, repeated outdoors from 210E to 215E, the S versions with a fixed back, the 218 and 219 sofas, which the price list carries both with armrests and without, and the Buddyhub armchair, and Buddyhub Box, the enclosed two- or four-seater version of the same panel. When a floor mixes waiting and lounge, La Mercanti keeps the two heights on the same drawing — the 450 near the desk, the 400 further in — so the room tells guests where to pause and where to settle.

When it is the right choice

Lobbies that mix short waits and long ones: the same island is offered at 400 and 450 mm of seat height.
Enclosed public interiors: the indoor version is declared class 1 IM to EN 1021-1 and EN 1021-2.

FAQ

Which fabric categories are admitted indoors?

Category C except C10÷C22, C60÷C64, C90÷C95 and C130÷C141; D40÷D44; the whole of E; G except G260÷G263 and G270÷G272; H and N with their own exclusions. The category decides where the piece may be used, the code decides the colour.

What is under the fabric?

A shaped plywood panel, moulded with flexible polyurethane foam at 29 kg/m³ and then covered. The foam is formed onto the panel rather than laid on top of it, which is why the edges keep their line.

How many seats do the sofas have, and do they include armrests?

The 218 is a two-seater (1800×900 mm) and the 219 a three-seater (2480×900 mm). With armrests they are 218 and 219; without them they become 218/2 and 219/2, narrower by 120 and 130 mm respectively.

Which tests are declared?

Sixteen tests to EN 1728:2012+AC:2013, assessed at level L2 of EN 16139:2013, on the indoor and on the outdoor version alike. The fire class 1 IM appears on the indoor sheet only.

What arrives in the carton?

One piece per carton, disassembled, with the legs to be fitted to the plate. The largest island is 0,885 m³ and 48,5 kg, and the backrest travels separately in its own 0,116 m³ carton.

Placing Buddy on the drawing, not on site

Draw both footprints at scale

1100×1100 mm and 2000×1100 mm are different rooms, not different sizes — and the same plan usually carries a 210 ottoman at 550×550 mm or a 218 sofa at 1800×900 mm from the same family. Put both on the plan before deciding which code the budget can carry.

Measure what is left around it

The island is fixed furniture in practice: nobody moves 48,5 kg to pass. Check the corridor that remains on every side at the drawing stage.

Decide which way the backrest faces

The 800×350 mm backrest turns one side into a back and leaves the other open. On the plan that decision points the seating either at the entrance or away from it.

Look at what the glides will stand on

The load of a Buddy Oasi island arrives on black technopolymer glides at the corners, not on a plinth. Note on the plan whether that point lands on carpet, on a joint or on polished stone.

Mark the door swing and the columns

A door that opens over the taped area and a column at 300 mm are both invisible in a photograph. They are on the plan, and that is where they get resolved.
