What did you have in mind?

Bespoke: size, colour, finish

Everything in Ralik clips together except one element. The storage modules are deliberately not linked to the seats: the manufacturer states they can be positioned freely, and they come in two lengths, 55,5 and 85,5 cm, with curved powder-coated sheet metal and plywood shelves in reconstituted oak.

That exception is worth understanding rather than overlooking. A seating island is fixed once it is joined; the storage unit is what adapts week by week, closing an open end, marking a passage, carrying magazines in a waiting area or samples in a showroom. It can also be electrified with the Pix accessory by Bachmann, with the cable hidden inside a metal tube that doubles as the cover. Designed by Ichiro Iwasaki. La Mercanti includes the storage units in the first layout, not as an afterthought.

FAQ

Why are the storage modules not linked?
Because they are the part of the system meant to move. Seating is joined and stays joined; the storage unit closes an end, marks a passage or holds material, and those needs change far more often than the seating layout does.
What are the two lengths for?
55,5 cm follows the short side of the composition, 85,5 cm covers a wider span. The choice depends on which side of the island the unit is meant to complete rather than on how much has to be stored.
Can it carry power?
Yes, with the Pix accessory by Bachmann in USB version, offering one USB-A and one USB-C. It sits inside a metal tube that covers the accessory and hides the cable at the same time.
How is it finished?
Curved powder-coated sheet metal for the structure and plywood shelves in reconstituted oak, with structure and shelf finishes freely combinable. It reads as a piece of furniture rather than a container.
Should it be ordered with the seating or later?
With it. A composition designed without the storage units usually ends up with an open end that someone later fills with a wastepaper basket, and that is a decision worth making at the drawing stage.

How to use storage units inside a seating layout

Five decisions that shape the plan, not just the shopping list.

Find the open ends
Every island has a side that needs closing rather than a seat.
Match the length to the side
55,5 cm for the short side, 85,5 cm for the wider span.
Decide what it carries
Magazines, samples, water, devices: it changes the position.
Add power only where it is used
USB-A and USB-C in a tube that hides the cable.
Keep it movable
La Mercanti includes the units in the first layout drawing.
