The most important thing about the Air Desk happened before it reached any office: its crystal went through tempering, the heat treatment that turns a 12 mm sheet into a surface fit for daily work. Nothing about the process is visible — no frames, no brackets, no reassuring bulk. The strength sits inside the material, which is exactly where an engineer would want it.

On that invisible foundation, Pinuccio Borgonovo drew a precise object in 2008: transparent, extralight or grigio Italia crystal, sides in extralight, one metal beam, and a top that can stay bare, take back-painted colour in gloss or satin, or wear leather-effect laminated crystal. The family adds the Air Desk 1 on the Air Unit storage system and the taller Air Up versions of 2011. La Mercanti supplies the Air Desk with samples ahead of the order — strength you cannot see deserves materials you can touch.

How many sizes does the range offer?
Thirteen, from the 120 x 51 cm console format to the 200 x 120 cm executive top, all at a height of 74 cm.
Which base glasses can be chosen?
Three: transparent, extralight and grigio Italia — the smoked grey tone that carries its name in the catalogue — all in 12 mm tempered crystal.
What metal finishes dress the beam and details?
Polished or satin stainless steel, anodised aluminium, white or black embossed lacquer — and, on request, hand-brushed black anodised aluminium.
Is the leather-effect top actual leather?
No — it is laminated crystal that borrows leather's appearance: the presence of a dressed desk in a material that never absorbs or scuffs.
How are cables managed on a glass desk?
Through one of two declared routes: a 6 cm hole in the top at least 10 cm from the edge, or a passage through the beam exiting at the side cap with a satin steel ring.
