In an Indian executive office, where the working day often starts before the commute and ends after it, that idea has a very concrete shape — a desk whose height follows the body through the day, standing for the morning review, seated for the long afternoon of calls.
The system carries the signature of Robin Rizzini — formed in Antonio Citterio's Milan office, Compasso d'Oro 2014, here at his first project with IVM. The engineering stays out of sight: four columns lift the 30 mm top in silent synchrony, anti-collision sensors guard the travel, and the control box rests at 0.1 W between uses. Legs are press-formed steel wrapped in moulded BayDur60 polyurethane, lacquered in matt or Metal shades with water-based paints.
Materials decide the register of the room: Canaletto walnut or eucalyptus veneer edged in thick solid wood, or FENIX in the Collection 024 palette, matte and fingerprint-resistant. A round table joins the desk on an 80x40 mm crosspiece for conversations that should not happen across a barrier, and credenzas at 73.5 or 146.5 cm hold the office's memory. IVM designed the whole table around the person: the top follows your posture through the day, the movement is soft and synchronised so it never interrupts a call, and the sensors stop travel instantly if anything is in the way. The mechanism serves the body; it never performs.
