There is a generation of Indian companies whose offices no longer imitate the boardrooms of their bankers — technology firms, design-led consultancies, new-economy corporates. The Monolith director table by Las Mobili, designed by Orlandini Design, is built for that cabin: a thin, shaped top carried on V-shaped legs of 4 mm steel plate, with the frame finished in Rust, Terracotta or Black. Authority through geometry, not bulk.
For Indian working conditions the marble-effect ceramic top is the specification that earns its keep: 6 mm of fired ceramic bonded to the wood core, indifferent to tea rings, spilled coffee and the daily traffic of a working MD cabin — with the White Calacatta face bringing the marble language Indian corporate interiors already speak, at furniture weight. The 3d-foil tops in six finishes, and the versions with an eco-leather writing insert, cover cabins that want warmth over stone.
A system, not a single table
Cables climb inside the legs through built-in risers into a steel tray under the top — no cable spine crossing the cabin floor. The service unit works as a structural support or freestanding storage; columns and low cabinets up to 240 cm complete the back wall in the same finishes. One material decision covers the director table, the meeting table and the storage behind the video-call frame.

The marble-effect ceramic, without hesitation. It is a fired 6 mm surface bonded to the wood core: cup rings, spills and heat do not mark it, and it wipes clean without ritual. White Calacatta suits cabins that speak the marble language of Indian corporate interiors; Black Desirè suits darker, denser rooms. Where the cabin is air-conditioned and the use is lighter, the 3d-foil tops in six finishes bring more warmth at a lower spend.
Work from the metal first. Black steel is the neutral that fits any identity; Rust and Terracotta belong to brands confident enough to put design in the foreground. Then set the top: Calacatta for prestige-led identities, Grey Elm or Grey Beige for light international palettes, Bali Walnut or Wengé where the brand reads established and warm. The storage wall shares the same finish codes, so the whole cabin holds one line. We map finish codes to the brand book before you specify.
Monolith carries its own wiring: risers built into the V-legs, a steel tray under the top, and an optional flip-top access on the surface. What the fitout must still deliver is one feed point near a leg — raise it with the MEP consultant at electrical design stage, not at snag. The top-access cut-out is prepared with the top at order stage, finished in the frame colour, so decide it before the order is confirmed.

The lightness is visual, not structural. The top is two coupled 18 mm MDF panels; the legs are cut from 4 mm steel plate — plate, not tube — and the frame is a welded 50 x 25 mm rectangular section. Specified with the service unit as a structural support, the composition is as planted as any closed-volume desk. What disappears is the bulk, not the engineering.

Monolith reads contemporary; confirm that is the statement the organisation wants at the top. In a new-economy corporate, the MD cabin in Monolith and the senior cabins in a quieter programme create a clear hierarchy. In a traditional group, Monolith often fits the CEO's private office precisely because it breaks with the boardroom's weight. Decide the register first — the finishes follow it.
Three decisions, one sitting: frame colour (Black, Rust or Terracotta), top family (ceramic Calacatta or Desirè, single 3d-foil, or insert versions), and the storage-wall finish from the same six 3d-foil codes. Because Monolith shares finishes across desk, meeting table, columns and low cabinets, one approval covers the whole cabin — and the client signs once, not four times.
The columns and low cabinets behind the MD are the background of every video call the cabin will ever host. Closed push-open fronts keep it disciplined; one or two open inserts in contrasting 3d-foil give it depth without clutter. Check the camera line from the MD's seat before finalising heights — the wall should end cleanly inside the frame, not cut through it.
Monolith needs one power feed near a V-leg; the riser inside the leg and the under-top tray do the rest. Mark the floor box on the electrical drawing, orient the desk so a riser leg meets it, and confirm the top-access cut-out at order stage. The USB and data provisions of the fitout stay in the building's scope — the desk's job is to make them invisible.
Calacatta ceramic under warm Indian office lighting reads differently than under a showroom's neutral white. We dispatch physical samples of ceramic, 3d-foil and eco-leather to the studio or site; the sample cost is credited in full against a confirmed order. For multi-cabin campuses, have the client's interior head approve samples under site lighting — it is the cheapest revision insurance available.
