Specifying Kinesit across a floor comes down to one question asked three times: which backrest. The low back keeps sight lines open across an open plan and suits desks used in short bursts. The medium back is the working default, and together with the low one it is where the built-in lumbar support belongs. The high back — Kinesit Executive — is a different build: fully upholstered on an internal steel frame, with cold-foamed polyurethane padding.

The rest of the choice goes quickly. Stretch mesh or full upholstery in fabric or leather; armrests fixed, 2D adjustable or absent; a base on a trestle, four ways, or five with a gas lift. Controls stay under the seat, the recline runs 18 degrees and locks every 3, and the seat lifts 15 mm as the back opens. Designed by Lievore Altherr Molina in 2014, supplied in India by La Mercanti with drawings and samples at planning stage.

FAQ

How do I choose between low, medium and high?
By how long people sit and what the room is for. A low back keeps an open plan visually open and works at hot desks; a medium back is the everyday choice for a full day; a high back belongs where the chair is part of the room's register as much as its comfort, usually a director's office.
Is the high backrest simply taller?
No. The Executive version is built differently: the back is fully upholstered on an internal steel frame, over cold-foamed polyurethane padding, on a powder-coated die-cast aluminium seat base. Armrests in PA6 are optional on it.
Where is the lumbar support?
Inside the backrest, height adjustable, on the low and medium versions. Worth writing into a specification rather than assuming across the range.
Can I mix heights on one floor?
They share one design language, so medium backs at the desks and high backs in management do not look assembled from two catalogues. Coverings can differ room by room while the shell stays constant.
Does it work for shared desks?
The mechanism responds to the user's weight rather than a preset tension, and the recline locks in 3-degree steps, so a shared chair does not need resetting every morning.

How to allocate backrest heights across a floor

Five steps before ordering fifty chairs in one height.

Map how long each desk is occupied
Hot desks, full-day workstations and management rooms differ.
Keep sight lines in mind
Low backs preserve them; high backs deliberately break them.
Note where the lumbar is available
Low and medium backrests, per the manufacturer.
Vary the covering, not the shell
Mesh at the desks, upholstery in the rooms that get looked at.
Ask for samples and drawings
La Mercanti provides both before the specification closes.
