The second code: how an E-Place row grows without being rebuilt

DVO

Perin & Topan

An office in Bengaluru or Gurugram rarely stays the size it was on opening day. DVO Office writes E-Place with that in mind: beside every desk and bench size the price list carries a second code, «in-line connectable», for the unit that joins the next one in a row. Buy the first desk as a single, buy the following ones in-line, and the row extends by one seat at a time, sharing the line without a rebuild of what is already there.

Designed by Gianantonio Perin and Giorgio Topan, the family rests on a single trestle leg in epoxy-coated steel, with a 60 × 40 mm crossbar and two uprights pressed from sheet steel. On it sit office workstations from 80 to 200 cm wide at 74 cm high, with a 25 mm melamine top and 2 mm ABS edge; bench desking in three depths, one with a central aluminium cable rail; a return, alone or on a supporting pedestal with lock; a low service unit the desk can hang from; a 90° curved link; and meeting tables, rectangular, square or round, with radiused corners. Declared certifications include GREENGUARD, FSC, LEED credits, WELL v2 and FEMB Level 3.

La Mercanti lays out the E-Place rows for the seats you have today and marks in the drawing the in-line codes for the seats you expect to add, so that the second purchase order is written before the first one ships and the import paperwork for India is prepared once, with the forwarder, for both.

FAQ

Is E-Place available in pCon.planner?
Yes, DVO publishes the collection in the pCon.planner configurator, the planning software many architecture practices already use: desks, benches, tables and storage can be placed on the floor plan with the real codes. La Mercanti can share the configured file or export it for offices that do not run the program.
What is special about the beams that connect the E-Place legs?
They are steel tubes with a trapezoidal section, 2 mm thick, closed at each end by a moulded ABS cap in white, grey or anthracite. The trapezoid gives the beam a slanted face that catches less dust than a flat box section, and the caps hide the cut ends where the beam meets the trestle.
What is the end top of an E-Place bench for?
It is a shallow top, 40 cm deep, fixed on brackets across the end of a bench row, with 45 mm radiused corners; it comes in the three bench depths of 136.5, 158 and 166.5 cm. It closes the row visually and gives a shared surface for a printer, plants or documents without adding a workstation.
Which storage comes with the E-Place service unit?
The unit is 160 cm wide, 48 deep and 58 high, with two sliding doors, a lock and two shelves inside; an internal drawer of 41.5 × 41 × 11.5 cm is optional. A desk or a bench can be integrated with it, so the unit doubles as the support on one side of the top.
How does the return with supporting pedestal differ from the plain return on E-Place?
The plain return is a 65 cm deep top of 80 or 100 cm that rests on the trestle structure. The return with supporting pedestal is 100 or 120 cm wide and stands on a lockable pedestal with four drawers, or two drawers and a filing drawer; an 18 mm metal plinth is available as an option.

How to see E-Place before ordering for an Indian office

Nine desk sizes, three bench depths and thirteen finishes are difficult to judge on a screen: the way to put E-Place by DVO Office in front of the project team before the purchase order.

Ask La Mercanti where E-Place is displayed
La Mercanti lists the DVO showrooms and partner spaces where E-Place is currently on the floor and arranges the visit, in Italy or closer to the project.
Carry the seat count
Bring the number of workstations per row and the target growth: on site the difference between the 65 and 80 cm depths of E-Place is decided in a minute.
Test the bench with the rail
Sit at the 158 cm bench, open the flip doors of the central rail and check the Indian plugs and network connectors your IT team specifies.
Compare finishes under office light
Ask to see the E-Place tops next to the legs away from the spotlights; natural oak and umber shift with the light of a working floor.
Request the 3D configuration
When travel is not possible, La Mercanti sends the E-Place layout rendered from pCon.planner, so the team reviews the same configuration from the office.
